Are you a tree surgeon who understands how to work safely, enjoys being outdoors and has a good knowledge of trees, climbing, pruning and tree care? We are looking for a tree surgeon for various clients in Limburg Tree Surgeon / European Tree Worker (ETW).

Through Valento Jobs, you’ll come into contact with great companies in the fields of tree care, landscaping, agricultural engineering, grounds maintenance and public outdoor spaces. As we have an extensive network, we’ll work with you to find the role that best suits your experience, qualifications, working style and expertise.

As a Tree Surgeon / ETW, you are someone who looks beyond simply sawing branches. You understand that trees are living organisms that need to be maintained in a proper, safe and professional manner. You work on trees along roads, in parks, on industrial estates, for local authorities, care homes, schools, housing associations or private properties.

Whether your speciality is climbing pruning, working from an aerial work platform, tree safety inspections, felling, chipping, guidance pruning or the maintenance of mature trees: we’d be happy to discuss the right next step with you.

At Valento Jobs, we don’t just look at what’s on paper. Of course, an ETW certificate is a bonus, but we focus primarily on what you can do in practice. Because a good arborist works safely, thinks ahead, respects the tree and ensures the work is completed to a high standard.

What will you do?

As a Tree Surgeon / European Tree Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining, pruning, inspecting and caring for trees at various locations. You will work either independently or alongside colleagues on a wide range of outdoor projects.

Your duties may vary depending on the client. One day you might be carrying out tree-climbing pruning work in a residential area. The next, you might be working from an aerial work platform along roadsides, carrying out maintenance on trees in a park, or assisting with the safe removal of trees at a project site.

You will be working in accordance with a schedule, work order or instructions from the foreman, site manager or client. Safety is always a priority – for yourself, your colleagues, bystanders, road users, buildings and the environment in which you are working.

Depending on your experience and the client, your duties may include, amongst other things:

  • Carrying out tree pruning work.
  • Working at height or working from an aerial work platform.
  • Caring for, tending and maintaining young and mature trees.
  • Safe felling or cutting down of trees.
  • Marking off, tidying up and keeping the work area safe.
  • Shredding and removal of branches, tree trunks and garden waste.
  • Identifying diseases, damage, dead wood or unsafe conditions.
  • Carrying out crown care, training pruning and maintenance pruning.
  • Assisting with tree safety checks or inspections.
  • Working with chainsaws, hand tools, climbing equipment and machinery.
  • Checking materials and tools before use.
  • Working alongside colleagues, machine operators, ground crew, foremen or site managers.
  • Work in accordance with safety regulations and work instructions.
  • Ensuring the workplace is left in a tidy condition.

So you’re not just sawing and pruning. You ensure that trees are looked after professionally and that the work is carried out safely, neatly and professionally.

Who are you?

You are a true professional in the green sector. You have a keen understanding of trees, enjoy working outdoors and know that good tree work is all about knowledge, safety and experience. You’re not afraid of physical work and enjoy seeing the results of your efforts.

You don’t necessarily need to come from exactly the same role. Perhaps you’re already working as a tree surgeon or an ETW professional. Perhaps you have a background in landscaping, gardening, forestry, agricultural engineering or grounds maintenance, and have experience working with trees. Even if you’re not yet fully ETW-certified but are serious about pursuing a career in tree care, we’d be happy to discuss your options with you.

What’s important is that you work safely, take responsibility and treat equipment, trees and the environment with care. You understand that tree work involves risks and that you need to be able to rely on one another.

For example, you might recognise yourself in the following:

  • You have experience as a tree surgeon, ETW operator, climber, park maintenance worker or gardener specialising in tree work.
  • An ETW certificate is a major advantage.
  • You have experience in pruning, climbing, working with aerial work platforms or tree care.
  • You can work safely with a chainsaw, hand tools and climbing equipment.
  • You’re mindful of safety, your surroundings and your colleagues.
  • You work neatly, independently and as agreed.
  • You don’t mind working outdoors in all weathers.
  • You work well with groundwork team members, machine operators, colleagues and site supervisors.
  • You have technical and practical insight.
  • You are reliable and keep your word.
  • A Category B driving licence is important.
  • A BE, T or C driving licence would be an advantage.
  • VCA certification is an advantage, or you must be willing to obtain it.
  • Certificates in the use of petrol-powered chainsaws, climbing, aerial work platforms or working safely alongside roads are a bonus.

Whether your main strengths lie in climbing, working with aerial work platforms, pruning, felling or all-round tree care: we’ll work with you to find where your skills are best utilised.
