Forklift driver.

As a forklift operator, you ensure that goods, pallets, materials and products are moved safely within the warehouse, the production area or on site. You keep the logistics process running smoothly and ensure that everything is in the right place on time.

Your duties may vary depending on the client. Sometimes you’ll mainly be loading and unloading lorries. At other times, you’ll be moving materials to the production area, preparing orders, restocking storage areas or assisting with dispatch and warehouse tasks.

You will be operating a forklift truck, but will often use other equipment as well, such as an EPT, a hand pallet truck or a scanner. Working safely is essential. You must be aware of your surroundings, drive carefully and ensure that goods are handled properly and without damage.

Depending on your experience and the client, your duties may include, amongst other things:

• Loading and unloading lorries.
• Moving pallets, goods and materials using a forklift truck.
• Preparing orders, materials or products for transport or production.
• Replenishing stock locations and production lines.
• Checking incoming and outgoing goods.
• Scanning, recording and processing the flow of goods.
• Checking quantities, delivery notes and product details.
• Operating a forklift truck, EPT, pallet truck or other internal transport equipment.
• Reporting damage, discrepancies or missing goods.
• Assisting with warehouse, dispatch or production tasks.
• Ensuring a tidy, safe and well-organised workplace.
• Work in accordance with safety regulations and internal agreements.
• Working alongside colleagues from the warehouse, production, planning and transport departments.
• Contributing ideas on a practical and efficient way of working.

So you’re not just driving a forklift truck. You ensure that the logistics process runs smoothly and that goods arrive safely, in good condition and on time at the right place.

You are someone who enjoys hands-on work and takes a responsible approach to materials, machinery and your colleagues. You like clear instructions, work neatly and understand that driving safely is more important than trying to be fast.

You don’t necessarily need years of experience. Perhaps you’ve been working as a forklift driver for some time. Perhaps you have a background in logistics, manufacturing, construction, transport, engineering or warehouse work and would like to move more into internal transport. If you work safely, are reliable and enjoy getting stuck in, we’d love to hear from you.

What’s important is that you keep on top of things, honour your commitments and fit in well with the team. You can take on tasks independently, but you also liaise easily with colleagues when something needs to be discussed.

For example, you might recognise yourself in the following:

• You have experience as a forklift driver, logistics assistant, warehouse assistant or in a similar role.
• You hold a valid forklift licence, or are willing to obtain one.
• You work safely, tidily and as agreed.
• You are skilled at handling goods, pallets and internal transport.
• You’ll be in charge of keeping track of things in a warehouse, production environment or on site.
• You’re a practical person and you get things done.
• You can work independently, but you also work well as part of a team.
• You are reliable, flexible and keep your word.
• Experience with scanners, stock management or dispatch would be an advantage.
• Experience with EPT, reach trucks or other means of transport is an advantage.
• You have a sufficient command of the Dutch language to fully understand instructions, health and safety guidelines and administrative matters.
