Are you a steel fixer who knows how to get the job done and takes pride in producing sturdy, neat and safe reinforcement work? We are looking for steel fixers to work for various clients in the construction industry.

Through Valento Jobs, you’ll be put in touch with leading construction firms, concrete companies, structural work contractors and specialist formwork companies in Limburg. As we have an extensive network within the construction industry, we’ll work with you to identify which workplace best suits your experience, skills and working style.

Whether you have experience with foundations, floors, walls, columns, beams, prefabricated reinforcement, reinforcing steel or traditional reinforcement work on site: we’d be happy to work with you to find the right next step.

At Valento Jobs, we don’t just look at what’s on paper. Above all, we look at what you can do with your hands. Because good formwork is characterised by craftsmanship, strength, precision and an understanding of the construction industry.

What will you do?

As a steel fixer, you help to reinforce concrete structures. You ensure that reinforcing bars, mesh, stirrups and cages are positioned and secured correctly, so that the structure can subsequently be cast in a strong and safe manner.

Your duties may vary from project to project. One day you might be working on foundations or floors. The next, you might be working on walls, columns, beams, basement structures, bridges, multi-storey car parks or other concrete works. You’ll work to drawings, reinforcement plans or instructions from the foreman or site manager.

You position, cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel. In doing so, you pay attention to dimensions, coverage, overlap, spacers and the correct positioning of the reinforcement. You know that proper tying is important before the concrete is poured. What you create must be correct before it is poured in.

Depending on your experience and the client, your duties may include, amongst other things:

  • Binding and positioning of reinforcing bars, reinforcement, mesh and cages.
  • Work on foundations, floors, walls, columns, beams and concrete structures.
  • Reading and applying reinforcement and construction drawings.
  • Cutting, bending, positioning and securing reinforcing steel.
  • Fitting brackets, hairpins, stakes, nets and spacers.
  • Checking the dimensions, coverage, overlap and position of the reinforcement.
  • Preparing the reinforcement before the concrete is poured.
  • Working on structural, concrete, infrastructure or renovation projects.
  • Working alongside concrete workers, formwork carpenters, foremen, site managers and other tradespeople.
  • Ensuring a tidy and safe workplace.
  • Work in accordance with safety regulations and project agreements.
  • Contributing ideas for practical solutions on the building site.

So you’re not just tying steel bars for the sake of it. You’re ensuring that the foundations of a concrete structure are right: sturdy, precise and ready for the concrete pour.

Who are you?

You are a skilled tradesperson who knows what working on the structural shell entails. You are physically strong, enjoy working with your hands and believe it is important that your work is carried out properly and safely. You have a good eye for measurements and understand that the formwork must be spot on.

You don’t necessarily need to have all the relevant qualifications. We consider experience, commitment and craftsmanship to be just as important. Perhaps you’ve been working as a steel fixer for years. Perhaps you have a background in concrete construction, structural work, formwork, precast concrete or general construction and would like to specialise further in steel fixing.

What matters is that you keep to your commitments, work safely and fit in well with the team. You can work independently, but you also collaborate easily with colleagues on site. You don’t need to be one for grand claims; as long as your work speaks for itself.

For example, you might recognise yourself in the following:

  • You have experience as a steel fixer, rebar fitter, concrete worker, formwork carpenter, structural work assistant or in a similar role.
  • You have experience with reinforcing steel, reinforcement, mesh, cages, stirrups or bars.
  • You can read reinforcement or construction drawings, or are willing to learn how to do so.
  • You have a keen eye for dimensions, coverage, overlap and structural details.
  • You are physically fit and don’t mind hard work.
  • You work neatly, safely and as agreed.
  • You have a practical mindset and contribute ideas on site.
  • You can work independently, but you also work well as part of a team.
  • You should ideally hold a VCA certificate, or be willing to obtain one.
  • A Category B driving licence and your own transport would be an advantage.
  • You feel at home in the construction industry and speak the language of the trade.

Whether your particular strengths lie in foundations, floors, walls, prefabricated reinforcement, concrete construction or all-round reinforcement work: together, we’ll work out where your expertise is best put to use.

What do you get?
