Are you a paver who’s not afraid of a bit of hard work, enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in producing neat paving? We’re looking for pavers for various clients in the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Through Valento Jobs, you’ll come into contact with excellent construction firms, infrastructure companies, landscaping firms and specialist paving companies in Limburg. As we have an extensive network within the construction sector, we’ll work with you to identify which workplace best suits your experience, skills and working style.

Whether you have experience with decorative paving, machine-laid paving, repaving, new-build projects, pavements, driveways, commercial sites or road construction: we’d be happy to work with you to find the right next step.

At Valento Jobs, we don’t just look at what’s on paper. Above all, we look at what you can do with your hands. Because good paving work is characterised by craftsmanship, a feel for proportions, preparation and an eye for detail.

What will you do?

As a Pavement Layer, you’ll be involved in various projects within the construction, infrastructure and outdoor spaces sectors. This includes laying, repairing and maintaining paving at residential properties, commercial premises, roads, pavements, car parks, squares, gardens and building sites.

Your duties may vary from project to project. One day you might be working on decorative paving at a residential or commercial property; the next, you might be working on pavements, clinker paving, setting kerbs, repaving, machine-laid paving or preparing sub-bases.

You ensure that the paving is properly prepared, laid at the correct height and finished to a high standard. In doing so, you pay attention to the gradient, dimensions, kerbs, pattern, compaction and correct connection to drains, gullies, edging and existing paving.

Depending on your experience and the client, your duties may include, amongst other things:

  • Laying, repairing and maintaining paving.
  • Streets made of cobblestones, paving slabs, concrete blocks, natural stone or other paving materials.
  • Carrying out decorative paving, repaving, kerb work and roadworks.
  • Installation of kerbs, kerb strips, gutters, drains and manhole rims.
  • Preparing, levelling and compacting sand pitches and sub-bases.
  • Marking out elevations, lines, gradients and dimensions.
  • Working with hand tools, a vibrating plate, a cutter, a saw or small machinery.
  • Work on projects involving new-build, renovation, infrastructure, landscaping or public spaces.
  • Check that the paving is level, neat and laid as agreed.
  • Tidying up, restocking and leaving the workplace in good order.
  • Working alongside colleagues, foremen, machine operators, site supervisors and project managers.
  • Helping to come up with practical solutions on site.

So you’re not just laying stones for the sake of it. You ensure that the paving is laid neatly, drains properly and will last for years to come.

Who are you?

You are a skilled tradesperson who enjoys working outdoors and knows what good paving work looks like. You have a keen eye for measurements, work neatly and take pride in ensuring your work is finished to a high standard. You know what it’s like on a building site or out on the street and aren’t afraid to get stuck in.

You don’t necessarily need to have all the relevant qualifications. We consider experience, commitment and craftsmanship to be just as important. Perhaps you’ve been working as a road builder for years. Perhaps you have a background in civil engineering, groundworks, landscaping, construction or outdoor spaces, and you’d like to get involved in exciting projects in the region.

What matters is that you keep your commitments, work safely and fit in well with the team. You can work independently, but you also interact easily with colleagues, foremen, machine operators and site managers. You don’t need to be one for grand stories; as long as your work speaks for itself.

For example, you might recognise yourself in the following:

  • You have experience as a road builder, labourer, groundworker, gardener or in a similar role.
  • You have experience with paving stones, tiles, laying kerbs, repaving or decorative paving.
  • You have an eye for slopes, heights, lines, connections and finishes.
  • You work neatly, safely and as agreed.
  • You are physically fit and don’t mind working outdoors.
  • You are proficient in using hand tools and small equipment.
  • You have a practical mindset and contribute ideas on site.
  • You can work independently, but you also work well as part of a team.
  • You should ideally hold a VCA certificate, or be willing to obtain one.
  • A Category B driving licence and your own transport would be an advantage.
  • You feel at home in the construction and infrastructure sectors and speak the language of the trade.

Whether your main strengths lie in decorative paving, machine-laid paving, repaving, setting kerbs or all-round paving: we’ll work with you to find where your skills are best utilised.

What do you get?

As a road builder, Valento Jobs gives you access to a range of opportunities within the construction and infrastructure sectors in Limburg. Because we work with a wide variety of clients, we’re well placed to identify which workplaces and projects are right for you.

Or perhaps larger-scale paving projects, infrastructure works, new-build projects or repaving projects are a better fit for you. Together, we’ll discuss what matters most to you and which opportunities align with that.
